How Meditation Changed Me Internally

Years ago, I was amongst a group of people who meditated deeply.I did not enjoy meditating, not because of the purpose behind it, but because I would always get distracted in the middle of the process.

I would focus on my breath, but after two breaths, my mind would wander to something that had happened earlier in the day. If you have experienced this before, you might not have felt great about it either.

Years passed and I started learning about different methods of meditation. I began meditating, but at the same time, I was not fully satisfied with the process. I could focus for longer periods, but it did not fully meet my expectations until I watched Kevin Trudeau’s show on meditation on YouTube. You can watch it here.

He describes in detail why you will have thoughts during meditation and explains that it is not the end of the world. He is my mentor and I trusted what he said. So, I started meditating again and went with the flow.

Within a few months, I had connected with my inner self. That was one of the best experiences I have ever had. It was not about being psychic or a fortune teller, but I began to understand myself on a deeper level. While it was an interesting experience, I was having a lot of thoughts and realizations.

At first, it was a little overwhelming. But over time, I got used to it. I was exposed to people and events that helped me experience it on a level I could not comprehend.

A great friend of mine and I have had many deep discussions about various topics. These conversations have helped me a lot in connecting with my inner self. Being in that state is fascinating. It brings complete peace and a deeper understanding of yourself.

You will develop greater self confidence, see the good in everyone, and experience peace not only during meditation but in your daily life.

Reaching that state takes time, days, weeks, months, or even years. For me, it took a couple of years.

Let me share an interesting story. Around seven years ago, I had a very good friend who was into meditation and enlightenment.

One night, there were three of us together, and around three in the morning (3:00 AM), he started talking about meditation. He played a very interesting piece of music that chanted the word “Om.” I had no idea what “Om” meant, but as we sat on the floor meditating for over half an hour (30 minutes), I felt a deep sense of peace.

It was a unique experience, meditating and working with energy in our minds. I did not notice any significant changes at that moment, which is normal. Some people do and some do not. Most people experience a massive shift when they meditate with an expert, an enlightened person, or after practicing for quite some time.

Over the years, I was exposed to different types of meditation and tried several techniques such as guided meditation, visualization, breathwork, candle gazing, and chakra focused meditation. I experimented with both music and silence.

The best method for me, though it may be different for you, is closing my eyes and focusing on my third eye chakra or Ajna in Indian tradition. I prefer to do this alone without music. However, when I am in a distracting environment such as around other people, I use background waves to help me focus.

I also practice visualization for different purposes. Some of my visualizations last 68 seconds, a time discussed in Ask and It Is Given by Jerry and Esther Hicks. In short, 68 seconds is the starting point of manifestation. Other visualizations last 15 minutes or longer.

Over a few months, I developed a strong meditation habit through trial and error. It did not happen overnight. Now, I am training myself to meditate in places such as coffee shops and other public spaces to strengthen my ability to focus and avoid distractions.

One of the easiest ways to calm your mind is meditation. However, sometimes there are persistent thoughts that you cannot stop thinking about. These require more attention and a process called Thought Field Therapy (TFT). I will discuss this in a future article.

In conclusion, meditation is one of the best ways to calm your mind and brain. It is a powerful tool to connect with your inner self, intuition, the Holy Spirit, or inner guidance.

If you decide to start meditating, have fun with it! Set goals you know you can accomplish. Even one minute of meditation can bring inner peace if practiced consistently.
